Structural Considerations

Corrosion Resistance
Local environmental conditions must be considered when constructing decks. Seaside, salt spray, or poolside conditions are the most corrosive environments. 316 stainless steel is best. Never Mix Metals in fastener bolts nuts or washers. Mixing metals such as stainless steel and galvanized plated metals is never a good idea. These metals react to each other causing corrosion to occur at an accelerated rate.
